Marjane Group opened a new hypermarket in Dakhla on Saturday, October 31, to coincide with Unity Day (Eid Al Wahda). The store is the retailer’s 45th in the Kingdom.

The overall project is valued at MAD 260 million and combines the hypermarket with a retail park. The first phase, limited to the store itself, represents MAD 180 million of that total.

The new outlet offers 4,500 m² of sales space, excluding the shops in its gallery, and carries more than 30,000 items, from groceries and fresh produce to household appliances, clothing and home equipment. The group expects this first phase alone to generate more than 200 direct and indirect jobs.

A second stage will bring a retail park of over 12,000 m², hosting national and international brands alongside restaurants, cafés and leisure areas. That extension will cost an additional MAD 80 million and is expected to create 300 direct and indirect jobs, according to the company.

With this opening, Marjane extends its footprint in the Kingdom’s southern provinces, following earlier stores in Guelmim in 2014 and Laayoune in 2024. The group said it intends to strengthen ties with local economic players, including shipowners, cooperatives and regional producers, to open new sales channels for products from Dakhla and the surrounding region.

Photovoltaic panels are set to be installed at the site in 2027. Marjane Group said it still aims to equip all of its eligible stores with solar power by 2030.
