Provincial authorities in Chefchaouen have put a set of vigilance hotlines into service to collect reports and coordinate action on the ground as winter conditions raise the risk of cutting off rural and mountain communities.
Calls are taken daily between 9 a.m. and 3 a.m., while WhatsApp messages can be sent around the clock, seven days a week.
The numbers give residents a direct line for reporting sudden breakdowns and other incidents, allow faster answers to their questions, and route each request to the department concerned so it can be handled immediately on site. Lines have been split by the type of report, so that cases do not pile up in a single channel.
The initiative runs under the slogan “Safe winter and continuity of public services.” It centers on protecting rural and mountain areas exposed to isolation and on reacting early to weather disruptions to safeguard lives and property.
The provincial administration intends to keep essential facilities operating and to prevent interruptions to public services for the duration of the rain and snow season.
