Nine school transport buses and seven ambulances reached rural communes in Essaouira province on Saturday, part of programmes run under the National Initiative for Human Development.

The Governor of Essaouira province, Mohammed Rachid, chaired the handover ceremony, organised as part of events marking the first anniversary of Unity Day. Heads of decentralised services, elected officials, security officials and members of civil society were present.

The ambulances were assigned to the communes of Tahelouante, Assais and Bouzemmour in the Aït Daoud circle, to Ait Aissi Ihahane and Tidzi in the Tamanar circle, and to Kechoula and Sidi M’Hamed Ou Marzouq.

The buses went to Takoucht in the Aït Daoud circle; to Ida Ou Guelloul, Imgrade, Sidi El Jazouli and Imi N’tlit in the Tamanar circle; to Zaouiat Ben Hmida, Takate and Had Draa in the Essaouira circle; and to Sidi Boulaalam in the El Hanchane circle.

This equipment falls under the second and fourth programmes of the INDH’s third phase, covering support for people in precarious situations and the strengthening of human capital among young generations. The goal is to improve health and education services and make basic services easier to reach for rural residents, particularly in areas far from health facilities.

Representatives of the beneficiary communes welcomed the delivery, noting that it would ease access to healthcare and help address the transport difficulties that keep children away from school. Essaouira province, largely rural, counts 57 communes.
