Samsung Canada has taken a playful swipe at newcomers to the foldable phone market with a campaign built around a mobile digital billboard touring Toronto.
The company is leaning on eight generations of its Galaxy Z Fold line as competitors move into a category it has spent years building.
The visuals pair eye-catching, smartphone-style photographs with a bright white line cutting across the screen, a nod to the fold. The accompanying slogan reads: “Folding. We know a thing or eight.”
Rather than promoting a specific product in the usual way, the activation is pitched at a timely cultural moment. Its deliberately simple, high-impact format is meant to get people talking, both in the street and on social media.
The tongue-in-cheek approach shows how a brand can turn reactive marketing and competitive creativity into a way of reinforcing its position when new players arrive in a segment it helped establish.
