Le Douar revives Marrakech Nzaha tradition with seasonal shared dining menu

Le Douar is bringing the Marrakech Nzaha tradition back to life through a seasonal dining experience inspired by one of the city’s long-standing social customs. The initiative pays tribute to a heritage that has long brought families and friends together around shared meals in natural settings.

For generations, the Nzaha represented a cherished occasion in Marrakech. Families would leave behind their daily routines to spend time outdoors, sharing homemade food, conversations and moments of togetherness. The tradition centered on community, hospitality and the pleasure of gathering around a common table.

A key part of these outings was the preparation of dishes by family members, particularly mothers, who carefully selected and cooked meals to share with relatives and friends. The food reflected a culture of generosity, transmission of culinary knowledge and collective dining.

This summer, Le Douar has transformed that heritage into the Menu Nzaha, a gastronomic experience designed as a tribute to the tradition. The restaurant’s chef presents a selection of recipes inspired by Morocco’s regional culinary heritage, encouraging guests to enjoy the dishes together in the spirit of traditional family gatherings.

Available for groups of at least four people, the Menu Nzaha highlights sharing as the central element of the dining experience. The seasonal menu is served exclusively at dinner throughout the summer.
