Wholesale distributors of butane gas in Morocco have warned they may be forced to stop supplying markets with gas bottles, citing persistent increases in fuel prices and transport costs. The warning came in a statement from the Professional Association of Wholesale Liquefied Gas Depot Operators in Morocco.
Distributors, the association said, can no longer absorb the successive rises in fuel prices, which have pushed up the cost of transporting and delivering gas bottles. The profit margin currently in force no longer matches the growing financial burden carried by operators in the sector, it added.
If the present situation continues, the association cautioned, the regular supply of national markets could be disrupted.
The statement also pointed to an absence of concrete solutions and of any real response to the profession’s demands, leaving distributors facing mounting difficulties that threaten the survival of their business.
A forced halt to distribution is now a real possibility, the association said, should conditions remain unchanged without urgent intervention from the relevant authorities, particularly as operating and transport costs continue to weigh on the sector.
