Dubai International Chamber said in a statement on Thursday, Oct. 29, that companies from Dubai held 143 one-to-one meetings with Kenyan counterparts in Nairobi.
The sessions formed part of a trade mission the chamber recently led to the Kenyan capital under its “Next Frontiers” programme. That programme falls under the New Horizons initiative, which aims to help Dubai-based firms reach promising foreign markets and widen their global partnerships. The chamber is one of three bodies grouped within Dubai Chambers.
The Dubai participants used the talks to present their offerings, speak directly with prospective Kenyan partners, explore ways of working together and expand their networks, the statement said. The chamber added that the discussions shed light on what the local market requires and pointed to partnerships fitting the companies’ growth plans, laying foundations for commercial ties in Kenya.
Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, described carefully matched meetings as a key tool for the firms involved.
“Targeted business meetings play an important role in connecting companies with suitable partners and enabling them to identify growth opportunities aligned with their objectives and capabilities,” he said.
Meetings under the programme are arranged in advance, with organisations chosen because their activities and interests match each participating firm’s goals. The chamber relies on its representative offices abroad to identify those counterparts, set up the meetings and track the results.
Firms ready to export or expand abroad can use the scheme to weigh several routes into a market: distribution, commercial representation, joint ventures, strategic partnerships and diversifying supply chains.
In Nairobi, the chamber’s office works in both directions. It guides Dubai companies toward the Kenyan market with specialised insights, trade and investment leads and introductions to trusted local partners, while helping Kenyan businesses establish themselves in the emirate and use it as a launchpad for international growth.
