British supermarket chain Waitrose released a short teaser on Thursday, Nov. 5, for its 2026 Christmas advert. The new film continues the romance between actress Keira Knightley and comedian Joe Wilkinson that began in last year’s campaign.

In the clip, Knightley wears a wedding dress and runs in slow motion through the aisles of a Waitrose store. The image then fades, and the date 10.11.26 appears on screen. The full advert is due to premiere on YouTube on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 6.30am.

The new film is a sequel to “The Perfect Gift”, the retailer’s 2025 Christmas advert. In that film, Wilkinson played a heartbroken character called “Phil Phil”, whose ex-partner had claimed nobody but Knightley herself could ever help him get over her, a line that left his friends laughing at him.

He then met the actress herself at a Waitrose cheese counter while reaching for a piece of Sussex Charmer. After a first date, the pair went through the familiar stages of a romantic comedy: a honeymoon period, a misunderstanding, a grand gesture and finally a declaration of love.

This year’s campaign will also include two shorter cinematic trailers, one lasting 60 seconds and the other 30 seconds. Waitrose will also release romcom-inspired film posters hinting at the twists in the couple’s story.

The teaser drew enthusiastic comments online. One viewer wrote: “Last year I requested that we get an entire series of this, with an update every year. So I’m very happy.”
