Azura Foundation expands rural education projects across Morocco in 2025-2026

The Azura Foundation expanded its investment in rural education across Morocco during the 2025-2026 period by delivering new school infrastructure, restoring facilities damaged by the 2023 earthquake, and launching an early childhood initiative aimed at improving access to quality education in underserved communities.

One of the year’s flagship projects was the inauguration of the Anmiter School in Al Haouz Province. Developed through a partnership with the Food Bank, the Provincial Directorate of Education, and a local association, the project represented an investment of MAD 1 million. The new school provides students and teachers with a safer and more suitable learning environment following the devastating earthquake that struck the region in 2023.

In Chtouka Aït Baha Province, the complete renovation of Sidi Rbat School significantly improved educational facilities. The project added new classrooms, sports areas, infrastructure designed for people with reduced mobility, and renovated teacher accommodation. The upgrades also increased the school’s overall capacity by approximately 50 percent, allowing it to serve more students under improved conditions.

Further south in Dakhla, the expansion of Mokhtar Soussi Primary School was carried out in cooperation with the Regional Academy of Education and Training and the Ennajah Association. The enlarged campus now offers improved learning conditions for more than 800 students, addressing growing educational needs in the area.

The Azura Foundation also strengthened its support for early childhood education by creating a pilot municipal daycare center in the commune of Aït Ali. The initiative was developed in partnership with Morocco’s National Initiative for Human Development and the National Mutual Aid organization, aiming to improve access to childcare and early learning services for rural families.

These initiatives were implemented with the support of around fifteen public institutions, private sector partners, and civil society organizations. Together, they reflect a shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities, improving local public services, and creating lasting social benefits for children and families living in Morocco’s rural communities.
