Japanese technology group Epson has joined the Young Moroccan Architecture Awards (YMAA) as a partner for the initiative’s third edition, the company said in a statement issued in Casablanca on Friday, October 23.

The awards aim to promote emerging talent in Moroccan architecture, spotlighting a new generation of designers through their projects, their creativity and their contribution to how architecture is evolving in the Kingdom. Nominees for this year’s edition were unveiled on Thursday, October 22, at the Ateliers Vincent Timsit in Casablanca.

Under the partnership, the YMAA community of architects will gain access to Epson’s work in printing, visualisation and projection. The company said it aims to give young Moroccan architects greater visibility and recognition, while strengthening its ties with architecture and design professionals and tracking how their creative and technical needs are changing.

Frou Akalay, co-founder of the YMAA and of the Archimedia group, welcomed the arrival of the new partner.

“This collaboration allows our community to benefit from technologies that support architects in designing, visualising and presenting their projects,” she said.

She added that the partnership also reinforces a shared goal of bringing more recognition to emerging talent in the field.

Ilias Azzaoui, Epson’s managing director for French-speaking Africa, said turning ideas into concrete, convincing work suited to each project’s needs was essential in architecture. The partnership, he said, would let the company support young Moroccan architects while deepening its understanding of the tools they need to design, visualise and present their work.
