Morocco’s national futsal team claimed its fourth Futsal Africa Cup of Nations title on Wednesday evening, beating Angola 5-2 in the final to extend its hold on the continental competition.

Playing at home in front of their own supporters, the Atlas Lions got the better of Angola in a repeat of the previous edition’s final, holding on to the title for a second straight time.

The win puts Morocco alone at the top of the all-time standings. Its earlier titles came in 2016, 2020 and 2024, and this fourth crown breaks a tie with Egypt, which won three times, in 1996, 2000 and 2004.

Arab nations have dominated the tournament’s history. Libya is the only other side to have won it, taking the title in 2008.

Both finalists have secured their places at the 2028 Futsal World Cup. Egypt will join them after taking third place, beating Algeria 8-1 in the play-off.
