El Jadida horse show set for major international expansion
The 17th edition of the Salon du Cheval d’El Jadida will take place from October 13 to 18, 2026, at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park in El Jadida under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI. Organized by the Association du Salon du Cheval, this year’s event will be held under the theme “The horse in the service of humanity,” highlighting the enduring relationship between people and horses across cultural, sporting, educational and economic fields.
Since its launch in 2008, the Salon du Cheval d’El Jadida has grown into one of the leading equestrian events in Morocco and beyond. The exhibition brings together breeders, riders, artisans, researchers, institutions, industry professionals and visitors, serving as a platform for promoting and developing the equine sector.
The 2026 edition will focus on the horse’s role in society while emphasizing the responsibility of humans toward animal welfare, dignity and respect. Organizers also aim to showcase the contribution of horses to Morocco’s economic development, cultural heritage and social life through a broad range of activities and exhibitions.
A key development this year is the strengthening of the event’s international profile. The Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for Show Jumping will be upgraded to CSI5*-W status, while another international competition will move from CSI1* to CSI2* level. These upgrades are expected to attract more elite riders and reinforce El Jadida’s place on the international equestrian calendar.
Traditional Moroccan horsemanship will remain central to the event. The Grand Prix of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Tbourida will gather the Kingdom’s top sorbas in an interregional competition showcasing teamwork, technical skill and the richness of Moroccan equestrian traditions.
Several prestigious breed competitions are also scheduled, including the Champion Cup for Barb Horses, the Champion Cup for Arab-Barb Horses, the Moroccan Breeders’ Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses and the International Arabian Horse Competition, classified as a Title Show. These events will highlight breeding excellence and the diversity of Morocco’s equestrian heritage.
Beyond sport, the exhibition will host conferences, scientific discussions and professional meetings focused on the future of the equine industry, heritage preservation and evolving equestrian practices. Regional exhibitors will also present local expertise, traditional products and initiatives supporting rural development and horse-related professions.
A dedicated youth program will introduce children and teenagers to equestrian disciplines, careers, traditions and values through educational activities, demonstrations and interactive experiences.
Chaired by Charif Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, the Association du Salon du Cheval continues to position the event as a showcase for Morocco’s equine industry and cultural heritage. The 2026 edition aims to strengthen connections between generations, regions and equestrian traditions while expanding the event’s international reach.
