Centrale Danone appoints Imad Bakkali to drive business transformation

Imad Bakkali

Centrale Danone is entering a new phase of development with the appointment of Imad Bakkali as Chief Executive Officer. The leadership change will take effect on July 1, 2026, as the Moroccan dairy industry leader seeks to strengthen its long-term growth strategy and deepen engagement with consumers, farmers, and business partners.

Bakkali will succeed Hervé Barrère, who is stepping down for family reasons after nine years with Danone Group. During his tenure, Barrère oversaw major changes within Centrale Danone in Morocco and contributed to the expansion of the group’s activities across Africa.

The appointment reflects the company’s focus on continuity and local expertise. With more than 20 years of experience in the consumer goods sector, Bakkali brings extensive knowledge of the Moroccan market and the challenges shaping the food industry. Throughout his career at Centrale Danone, he has held roles across multiple functions, gaining experience in commercial operations, industrial performance, and relationships with stakeholders throughout the dairy value chain.

Through this leadership transition, Centrale Danone aims to maintain the momentum built in recent years. The company plans to reinforce its connection with consumers, improve its economic and environmental performance, and continue supporting thousands of dairy farmers who contribute to Morocco’s milk production sector.

The group also views the appointment as an opportunity to accelerate ongoing transformation projects in a rapidly changing market. Growing consumer expectations regarding product quality, nutrition, and sustainability remain key priorities that will continue to shape the company’s strategy.

Following his appointment, Bakkali said he intends to build on the work achieved by Centrale Danone’s teams while strengthening the company’s achievements. He emphasized the importance of sustainable growth that benefits Moroccan consumers, agricultural partners, and the broader dairy ecosystem.

The leadership change also signals Danone Group’s continued confidence in the Moroccan market. By promoting local leadership, the company aims to support the next stage of its development while reinforcing its contribution to the national economy.
