Mohammed V Airport appoints new director to advance Airports 2030 strategy

The National Airports Office has appointed El Arbi Es-Sobaihi as the new director of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca as it continues implementing its Airports 2030 strategy. The appointment comes as Mohammed V Airport prepares for sustained growth in air traffic and a major transformation aimed at strengthening its position as Morocco’s leading aviation hub.

Mohammed V Airport handles a significant share of the country’s air traffic and remains Morocco’s primary gateway to international air transport networks. The leadership change marks a new phase in the airport’s development as the National Airports Office moves forward with governance reforms under its long-term modernization plan.

El Arbi Es-Sobaihi brings more than two decades of experience in airport operations. During his career at the National Airports Office, he managed terminal operations before leading the operations department at Mohammed V Airport. Since 2025, he has coordinated strategic activities across the airport’s various departments. He also played a key role in several major projects, including the commissioning of Casablanca’s Terminal 1.

In his new role, Es-Sobaihi will oversee the transformation of Morocco’s largest airport. His responsibilities include improving operational performance, enhancing the passenger experience, and supporting the regional development objectives outlined in the Airports 2030 strategy.

The airport’s management will also focus on ensuring sustainable traffic growth while improving key performance indicators such as punctuality, passenger flow, customer service, operational coordination, safety, and overall passenger satisfaction.

The appointment comes as the National Airports Office accelerates investments to expand and modernize airport infrastructure in response to rising passenger demand. These efforts are also linked to Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which is expected to generate substantial increases in international travel.

The decision also reflects the National Airports Office’s strategy of promoting experienced operational professionals to lead one of the most significant transformations in Morocco’s airport sector.
