Tate brothers arrested in Miami over UK extradition request

The Tate brothers were arrested in Miami after British authorities formally sought their extradition and approved dozens of additional criminal charges. Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were taken into custody by US Marshals following a request from the United Kingdom, marking a significant development in a case that now spans multiple countries and legal systems.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Andrew Tate, 39, now faces 42 charges, including seven counts of rape, three counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, and 19 offences related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces 17 charges, including rape, sexual assault, and facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.

The latest charges involve four additional alleged victims and relate to offences allegedly committed between 2010 and 2017 in eastern England. The new allegations increase the total number of charges against the brothers to 59. Previously, British prosecutors had authorized 21 charges linked to three alleged victims in May 2025.

US Marshals confirmed the arrests were carried out under a sealed warrant. The US Department of Justice said the action was conducted in accordance with extradition treaties and law enforcement cooperation agreements between the countries.

The brothers, who hold both British and American citizenship, are expected to appear before a federal court in Miami as extradition proceedings begin.

The case has developed across several jurisdictions. Romanian authorities first arrested the brothers in 2022 and charged them with rape, human trafficking, and money laundering. In 2024, a Romanian court approved a British extradition request but postponed any transfer until Romanian criminal proceedings were completed.

In June, the High Court in the United Kingdom rejected a legal challenge brought by the brothers against the Crown Prosecution Service regarding the non-disclosure of the identities of alleged victims.

Andrew and Tristan Tate have consistently denied all allegations against them. Their legal representatives previously stated that the brothers intended to return voluntarily to the United Kingdom after the conclusion of proceedings in Romania.

Separate legal action is also underway in the United Kingdom. Four women have filed a civil case against Andrew Tate alleging sexual violence. The trial is scheduled for June 2026.

Bedfordshire Police, which conducted the British investigation alongside the Crown Prosecution Service, confirmed its involvement in the case.
