Morocco’s business creation activity remained strong during the first five months of 2026, with 42,905 new businesses registered between January and May, according to data released by the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).

The figures show a growing dominance of legal entities, which accounted for 75% of all newly created businesses during the period, compared with 71% recorded during the same period a year earlier. This trend reflects the increasing preference among entrepreneurs for structured corporate forms when launching new ventures.

Among legal entities, the Single-Member Limited Liability Company (SARL AU) remained the most widely used legal structure, representing 65.5% of registrations. It was followed by the Limited Liability Company (SARL), which accounted for 33.6% of newly incorporated businesses.

Regionally, Casablanca-Settat maintained its position as the country’s leading business hub, concentrating 39.3% of newly created legal entities. Rabat-Salé-Kénitra ranked second with 14.3%, followed by Marrakech-Safi with 12.8% and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima with 10.4%. Together, these four regions represented 76.8% of all legal entity registrations recorded in the commercial register.

Sectoral data indicate that newly created legal entities were primarily active in trade, which accounted for 27.6% of registrations. Construction, public works and real estate activities followed with 25.2%, ahead of miscellaneous services at 19.6%, transport at 7.7%, and industry at 6.3%.

For sole proprietorships and individual businesses, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima ranked first with 21.1% of registrations. Casablanca-Settat followed with 13.4%, while the Oriental region accounted for 10.7% of newly registered individual enterprises.

OMPIC also reported the issuance of 56,618 commercial names through negative certificates between January and May 2026, highlighting continued entrepreneurial momentum across the country.
