Maroc Telecom surpasses 77 million customers across African markets

Maroc Telecom reported continued growth in the first half of 2026, with its total customer base exceeding 77 million subscribers. The telecom operator recorded a 2.9 percent year-on-year increase, driven by expanding operations across Africa and sustained demand for mobile and broadband services in Morocco.

The growth reflects the performance of the group’s Moov Africa subsidiaries and the rising adoption of mobile internet services. As digital connectivity becomes increasingly important across the continent, Maroc Telecom continues to strengthen its position in both domestic and international markets.

In Morocco, the mobile customer base reached nearly 18.52 million subscribers by the end of the first half of the year. Fixed-line services remained stable with approximately 1.63 million active lines.

Broadband services also maintained strong momentum. The operator’s high-speed internet subscriber base surpassed 1.41 million customers, highlighting growing demand for digital services and improved connectivity among consumers and businesses.

Outside Morocco, Moov Africa remained a key growth driver. Côte d’Ivoire continued to represent the group’s largest market with around 12.94 million mobile subscribers. Burkina Faso followed with more than 8.43 million customers.

Chad recorded approximately 7.72 million subscribers, while Mali exceeded 7.14 million. Benin, Niger, and Togo each maintained mobile customer bases above four million users, reinforcing the group’s footprint across West and Central Africa.

Mauritania, Gabon, and the Central African Republic also contributed to the overall subscriber base, supporting Maroc Telecom’s regional diversification strategy and strengthening its standing among Africa’s leading telecommunications operators.

The group’s fixed-line activities outside Morocco accounted for more than 308,000 subscribers, mainly concentrated in Mali, Burkina Faso, Gabon, and Mauritania.

Fixed broadband services reached 364,000 customers across international markets. The increase reflects ongoing investment in digital infrastructure and growing demand for high-speed internet services in several African countries.

Maroc Telecom said the results support its long-term strategy focused on network expansion, wider access to digital services, and enhanced customer experience. Through continued investment in connectivity and telecommunications infrastructure, the company aims to strengthen its market position while supporting digital transformation efforts for households and businesses across the continent.
