Japan agriculture minister visits OCP Jorf Lasfar platform
Japan agriculture minister Norikazu Suzuki visited the OCP Group industrial platform in Jorf Lasfar during an official trip aimed at strengthening cooperation between Morocco and Japan in agriculture, food security, and fertilizer supply.
Suzuki was accompanied by a Japanese delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. OCP described the visit as part of a long-standing partnership with Japanese stakeholders that began in 1961.
The cooperation between Morocco and Japan has evolved over more than six decades into a strategic framework focused on agricultural development and fertilizer supply. OCP said the partnership supports food security in Japan and across the ASEAN region while reinforcing resilience in global supply chains.
The visit took place shortly after Morocco and Japan marked 70 years of diplomatic relations. Both countries recently held high-level talks and signed a joint communiqué to expand cooperation in renewable energy, industry, food security, and phosphate-based fertilizers.
OCP said the Jorf Lasfar platform reflects the importance of its role in the relationship between Rabat and Tokyo. The company highlighted shared priorities around sustainable agriculture, responsible nutrient management, and long-term industrial cooperation.
OCP added that it aims to further deepen its partnership with Japanese actors as demand increases for stable fertilizer supply and resilient agricultural systems.
