Italian firms target Morocco railway projects amid expansion plans
Morocco railway projects are drawing growing interest from Italian companies as the country accelerates major investments in rail infrastructure and transport connectivity. The Italian Trade Agency will lead an economic mission to Casablanca from October 5 to 8, 2026, to examine investment and partnership opportunities linked to Morocco’s expanding railway network.
The initiative comes as Morocco advances a broad infrastructure modernization strategy designed to strengthen connections between cities, ports, and industrial zones. Key projects include the extension of the high speed rail line to Marrakech, the development of Casablanca’s railway network, and the expansion of the national rail system to connect 43 cities across the country.
The mission aims to facilitate direct engagement between Italian businesses and Moroccan authorities responsible for public procurement and infrastructure contracts. Italian companies are seeking opportunities in a market that continues to attract international interest because of the scale of planned rail investments and the long-term demand for advanced transport solutions.
Potential areas of cooperation include engineering services, railway equipment, technical support, and intelligent transport systems. These sectors are expected to play a central role as Morocco upgrades its transport infrastructure and increases network efficiency.
The Italian delegation will also examine urban mobility projects and initiatives aimed at improving links between ports and industrial hubs. These developments reinforce Morocco’s position as a regional transportation platform while creating new opportunities for international partnerships in a sector that has become a key driver of the Kingdom’s economic development.
