Digital payments partnership drives financial inclusion in Morocco

A new digital payments partnership between Crédit Agricole du Maroc and Visa aims to accelerate the adoption of digital financial services and strengthen financial inclusion across Morocco. The long-term agreement was signed on July 7 by Mohammed Fikrat, Chairman of the Management Board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc, and Leila Serhan, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager for North Africa, the Levant and Pakistan at Visa.

The partnership focuses on developing a modern payment infrastructure designed to support a secure and accessible digital economy. Both organizations plan to expand access to digital banking and payment solutions while contributing to Morocco’s ongoing digital transformation.

By combining Visa’s global payment technology network with Crédit Agricole du Maroc’s nationwide presence, the initiative seeks to make financial technology services available to a broader segment of the population regardless of location or customer profile. The partners aim to support greater participation in digital financial services while improving access to secure transaction tools.

The agreement includes the development of new payment and banking solutions, including cashless payment services and products tailored for businesses. It also covers programs intended to strengthen customer autonomy and encourage wider use of digital services.

Mohammed Fikrat said the collaboration aligns with the bank’s modernization strategy and commitment to operational excellence. He noted that the partnership will provide customers with highly secure transaction infrastructure while advancing the institution’s financial and digital inclusion objectives.

Leila Serhan said the growing use of technology among Moroccan consumers creates strong momentum for digital payment adoption. She added that the alliance will help build a resilient financial ecosystem capable of supporting national digital transformation and long-term economic growth.
