Drug operation near Kenitra leads to seizure of psychotropic pills
A 33 year old man was arrested near Kenitra during a joint operation by judicial police officers and Morocco’s domestic intelligence services after authorities seized thousands of psychotropic pills, cocaine, and cash allegedly linked to drug trafficking activities.
The suspect was apprehended on the outskirts of Kenitra shortly after arriving in a passenger vehicle from a city in northern Morocco, according to information released by the General Directorate of National Security.
During a search operation, authorities seized 2,400 psychotropic pills, quantities of cocaine prepared for distribution, and a sum of money suspected to be connected to drug trafficking activities.
The suspect was placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigators are working to identify possible accomplices and determine whether the case is linked to a broader criminal network.
The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance to combat drug trafficking and the distribution of psychotropic substances across Morocco.
Moroccan security services continue to intensify operations targeting networks involved in the trafficking of narcotics and prescription drugs, which authorities consider a threat to public safety and security.
