Lawmakers in the House of Representatives gave their confidence to the new government on Thursday, October 22, adopting the programme presented by Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri by an absolute majority, MAP reported in an official dispatch from Rabat.

Of the 331 votes cast, 204 members backed the programme and 127 opposed it. The vote came at the close of a plenary session during which the Head of Government responded to questions raised by the parliamentary groups and caucuses during their debate on the programme.

El Mansouri had presented the programme, covering the 2027-2031 term, before both Houses of Parliament. The vote was held under Article 88 of the Constitution and Articles 261 and 262 of the House of Representatives’ internal rules.

Under Article 88, a government is formally invested once it secures the confidence of the House of Representatives through a vote in favour of its programme by an absolute majority of the House’s members.

Having cleared this threshold, the new executive now meets the constitutional conditions required to begin exercising its powers.
