Bank of Africa ESG reporting earns fourth consecutive academic award recognition
Bank of Africa ESG reporting received renewed recognition after BANK OF AFRICA was named the first finalist in the Academic Prize for the Quality of Reporting by Listed Companies in the Financial Sector. The distinction was awarded during the annual event held on June 11, 2025, by the Casablanca Stock Exchange in partnership with the School of Management Sciences of UQAM Canada, Finance Montréal, and the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences of Cadi Ayyad University.
The award marks the fourth consecutive year that BANK OF AFRICA has secured the position of first finalist in the competition, which evaluates the quality of sustainability and ESG disclosures among listed companies and entities that raise funds through public markets.
Reports submitted by participating companies underwent a detailed assessment process based on the latest international standards for sustainable reporting. The evaluation examined the transparency, relevance, and completeness of information disclosed on environmental, social, and governance performance.
Among the criteria used to differentiate financial institutions were the comprehensive coverage of sustainability challenges and the quality of ESG performance indicators. Assessors also considered reporting quality principles, the materiality of ESG factors, stakeholder engagement, and alignment with international reporting frameworks.
The distinction reinforces the position of BANK OF AFRICA as a leading player in responsible finance across Africa. The group stated that the recognition reflects its long term commitment to sustainable development and responsible banking practices. It also strengthens the institution’s standing as a major pan African banking and financial group under the leadership of Othman Benjelloun.
