The Qatari short film Sanad, directed by Noor Al Nasr, has gathered around 25 awards after screening at 50 international film festivals, earning recognition for its direction, screenplay and storytelling.

Its prizes include best short film at the London Independent Film Festival, best short film at the Sweden Film Awards and best screenplay at the Milano Independent Film Awards.

The film was also selected for the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Guanajuato International Film Festival, the Dhaka International Film Festival and the Ajyal Film Festival.

Al-Nasr said she wanted to explore the bond between siblings, with its teasing, rivalry and minor quarrels. Showing the film to audiences around the world, she added, has been a deeply rewarding experience.

What makes the journey special, according to the director, is the way the story came together, since filmmaking is a collective effort. She also praised the Doha Film Institute for its support and encouragement of the project.
