Morocco held the guest of honour spot at the eighth edition of the Turathna heritage crafts exhibition. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency ran the event from Oct. 17 to 24.
Four other countries took part alongside Morocco: the United Arab Emirates, Algeria and Latvia, along with Türkiye, which joined the exhibition for the first time this year.
Seven earlier editions came before this one. Each gave craftspeople and small business owners from different governorates a space to sell their work. Exhibitors meet customers directly, learn what markets need and look for sales and trade contracts.
Organisers present Turathna as a way to protect cultural heritage while turning it into lasting economic activity that can reach new markets. The exhibition goes beyond displaying and selling products; it also offers artisans technical, advisory and training services meant to help them grow their businesses and keep pace with changes in how goods are made and marketed.
This year’s edition put more weight on digital services. Participants received training in professional product photography, online marketing and website design. Sessions also covered export requirements and the use of artificial intelligence applications in business development.
