The Kingdom’s airports handled 29,330,764 passengers over the first nine months of 2026, an increase of 8.74% on the same period last year, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA), which released its commercial air traffic statistics for September.

International flights accounted for the bulk of that total, carrying 26,150,513 passengers, up 8.73%. Domestic traffic grew slightly faster, rising 8.88% to 3,180,251 travellers.

In September alone, Morocco’s airports welcomed 3,289,181 passengers, ONDA said.

Casablanca and Marrakech lead

Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca remained the busiest hub, with 9,355,121 passengers by the end of September. Marrakech-Menara came second with 8,113,680, ahead of Agadir-Al Massira at 2,790,578.

Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport recorded 2,327,329 passengers, while Rabat-Sale Airport handled 1,902,312.

Europe drives international growth

ONDA attributed the international performance mainly to the European market, which remains the largest source of passengers. It accounted for 21,665,628 travellers, up 9.05% year on year.

Other markets also posted strong gains. Traffic with South America jumped 33.48% to 81,185 passengers, North America rose 13.23% to 771,932, and Africa grew 13.62% to 1,581,996. Flights linked to Maghreb countries increased 8.75%, reaching 396,080 passengers.

The Middle East and Far East were the exception, slipping 1.8% to 1,653,692 passengers.

Aircraft movements and cargo

Airports across the Kingdom logged 214,607 aircraft movements by the end of September, up 9.70% on an annual basis. Mohammed V Airport topped the list with 73,194 movements, followed by Marrakech-Menara with 53,164 and Agadir-Al Massira with 19,041.

Air freight volumes reached 83,744.45 tonnes over the nine-month period, an increase of 14.29% compared with the same months of 2025.
