The Palestinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Palestinian Motor Sport and Motorcycle Federation to cooperate on road safety, reduce traffic accidents and ease movement for citizens.

The first concrete step targets schoolchildren. Under the agreement, the two sides will carry out two traffic safety projects around schools: Tayasir Secondary Girls’ School in Tubas governorate and Beit Amin Mixed Basic School in Qalqilya governorate.

The signing took place under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Eng. Makram Draghma, undersecretary of the Public Works and Housing ministry, and federation president Abdullah al-Shurawi signed the document. Muhammad Hamdan, undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, attended the ceremony.

Beyond the school projects, the memorandum covers the exchange of expertise and joint training programmes on roads and traffic safety. A dedicated committee will oversee implementation, and the partners will hold regular meetings to review progress.

Both parties describe the agreement as the start of a longer-term partnership that could lead to further joint road safety projects, with safer roads for all users, students near schools above all, as the stated goal.
