Morocco seeks higher value aerospace investments at Farnborough

Morocco is using the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 to advance its aerospace ambitions and strengthen its position in global industrial value chains. Through a broad national presence at the event held from July 20 to 24 in the United Kingdom, the country aims to attract higher value aerospace investments, expand industrial partnerships, and secure a greater role in future aerospace, space, and defense programs.

The Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development has established a national pavilion bringing together manufacturers, startups, professional organizations, and training institutions. The showcase includes the Moroccan Aerospace Industries Group and the Casablanca Aerospace Training Institute, highlighting an ecosystem designed to offer more than cost competitiveness. Morocco is presenting itself as a reliable industrial platform capable of supporting advanced manufacturing and long-term industrial cooperation.

Over the past two decades, Morocco has built a growing aerospace industry comprising around 155 companies. The sector now employs more than 25,000 people and generates nearly $3 billion in exports. It has achieved a local integration rate of 42% while maintaining an average annual growth rate of 17%. These figures reflect the gradual expansion of the country’s industrial capabilities across multiple segments of the aerospace value chain.

Today, the Moroccan ecosystem covers precision machining, assembly operations, sheet metal processing, composite materials manufacturing, wiring systems, surface treatments, and maintenance services. This diversified industrial base allows Morocco to offer international aerospace companies an integrated production environment capable of supporting different stages of aircraft programs.

Human capital remains a central element of the country’s strategy. The participation of the Casablanca Aerospace Training Institute highlights Morocco’s efforts to provide a skilled workforce tailored to industry needs. As competition for qualified talent intensifies worldwide, workforce development has become a decisive factor in investment decisions across the aerospace sector.

The timing of Morocco’s participation is significant. Global aerospace manufacturers and suppliers are increasingly seeking more resilient supply chains. Greater attention is being paid to geographic proximity, logistics reliability, workforce availability, and supplier performance. These trends are creating new opportunities for industrial platforms capable of meeting strict international standards.

Morocco intends to capitalize on its proximity to European markets, modern infrastructure, and accumulated industrial experience to attract part of this evolving investment landscape. The objective is not only to increase the number of projects but also to deepen the technological content of activities carried out locally and strengthen domestic integration.

The confidence shown by international aerospace groups already operating in Morocco is viewed as evidence of the sector’s maturity. The next phase of development focuses on attracting projects that require greater engineering expertise, advanced technologies, and specialized skills. This shift would allow the country to move further up the value chain and reinforce its competitiveness in strategic industrial segments.

During the Farnborough event, Moroccan representatives are holding meetings with aerospace manufacturers, equipment suppliers, and industry stakeholders. These discussions are intended to showcase national capabilities, explore partnership opportunities, and generate new investment projects.

The presence of Moroccan startups broadens the country’s message beyond industrial production. Morocco is also seeking recognition for its innovation potential and technological solutions in an industry increasingly shaped by digitalization, advanced materials, and evolving maintenance models.

Beyond civil aviation, Morocco is positioning itself for future opportunities in space and defense. As governments and companies place greater emphasis on industrial sovereignty and supply chain security, these sectors are expected to become increasingly important. Through its Farnborough strategy, Morocco aims to strengthen its role as a regional aerospace hub while expanding its participation in the next generation of global aerospace programs.
