Vivo Energy enters Jordan with TotalEnergies acquisition

Vivo Energy has completed its acquisition of TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan, marking the company’s entry into the Jordanian market and its first expansion beyond Africa. The deal includes 100% ownership of TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan, along with its network of about 180 service stations and its commercial fuels and lubricants operations.

The acquisition introduces the Engen Jordan brand to the Kingdom. Engen, Vivo Energy’s retail brand, now operates across 13 Vivo Energy markets. The brand is one of South Africa’s leading fuel retailers, with a network of more than 1,000 service stations that distribute roughly one in every four liters of fuel sold in the country. Over the coming months, Engen branding will gradually replace TotalEnergies signage across service stations in Jordan.

The transaction follows the initial announcement made in November 2025. Since then, the parties involved have worked to secure all required regulatory approvals and complete the conditions necessary to finalize the deal.

Stan Mittelman, Chief Executive Officer of Vivo Energy Group, described the acquisition as a major milestone for the company. He said Jordan offers strong economic fundamentals and a highly regarded local team. He added that Vivo Energy and the Engen brand share a customer-focused approach and a commitment to local communities, values the company believes will resonate with customers across the Kingdom.

The company plans to apply its operating model in Jordan, which relies on empowered local management teams capable of responding quickly to customer and stakeholder needs. Vivo Energy currently operates approximately 4,200 service stations across 29 markets, making it one of Africa’s largest energy distribution companies.

Adel Saadallah, who has been appointed Managing Director of Vivo Energy Jordan, said the transition represents an important step for the company and the local market. Having been part of Vivo Energy since its creation, he said he has witnessed how the group’s model supports the development of sustainable and resilient businesses.

Saadallah emphasized that while ownership has changed, employees, distributor agreements, and customer relationships will remain unchanged. He said his immediate focus will be to work with existing teams to build on past achievements and ensure a smooth transition for all stakeholders.

The company also linked its arrival in Jordan to a significant year for the country. Jordan is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its independence in 2026 and the national football team’s first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup. Vivo Energy said it intends to reflect that national pride through future programs and initiatives centered on Jordan and its people.
