Tanger Med strengthens cargo screening with advanced security scanners

Tanger Med is reinforcing port security at Tanger Med through the deployment of new X ray scanners donated by the United States Embassy in Morocco. The equipment will be used to inspect cargo moving through the port complex and strengthen oversight of international trade flows.

The new generation scanners are designed to speed up inspection procedures while enhancing security across one of the world’s largest commercial hubs. The technology will help authorities process shipments more efficiently without compromising safety standards.

Port officials expect the deployment to improve the reliability and effectiveness of cargo control operations. Faster screening procedures are also expected to boost productivity within the port and support the secure movement of goods through Morocco.

The scanners will strengthen the detection of sensitive cargo, including illegal weapons, dual use components and other high risk goods. The upgrade forms part of broader efforts to enhance supply chain security and protect international trade routes.
