Moroccan foreign trade portal launched to streamline procedures
Morocco has officially launched the Moroccan foreign trade portal, a new national platform designed to simplify, harmonize, and digitize import and export procedures. The initiative brings together the State Secretariat in charge of Foreign Trade, the National Ports Agency, Tanger Med Port Authority, the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration, and PORTNET S.A. in a coordinated effort to modernize the country’s trade ecosystem.
The Moroccan foreign trade portal was introduced during a ceremony in Casablanca attended by senior government officials and representatives from major public institutions and business organizations. The project forms part of Morocco’s broader strategy to strengthen digital transformation, facilitate trade flows, and improve the competitiveness of its external trade sector.
Rather than creating another standalone administrative platform, the portal is designed to integrate and coordinate the information systems of multiple public agencies. The objective is to provide businesses with a more efficient and transparent experience when carrying out foreign trade operations.
Through the new system, companies will be able to access procedures more easily, reduce duplicate data entry, limit information gaps, monitor the progress of their applications, and benefit from stronger coordination among government stakeholders involved in trade activities.
The launch also reflects Morocco’s ongoing efforts to modernize logistics infrastructure and reinforce its position as a regional hub for international trade. The initiative aligns with national reforms aimed at improving administrative efficiency and supporting economic growth through digital solutions.
The project follows the strategic rapprochement between the National Ports Agency and Tanger Med Port Authority within PORTNET. This cooperation seeks to strengthen the national digital framework supporting foreign trade and to facilitate the management of growing trade flows across maritime, air, and land transport networks.
PORTNET will oversee the deployment and operational management of the portal in coordination with government departments, public institutions, and other partners. The platform is expected to expand progressively to cover all foreign trade procedures while promoting interoperability, transparency, and continuous service improvement.
The launch ceremony also included the signing of three agreements. The first memorandum of understanding provides institutional support for the strategic partnership between the National Ports Agency and Tanger Med Port Authority in favor of PORTNET. The agreement aims to support the portal’s deployment and simplify administrative processes through digital integration.
A second agreement establishes the framework for the portal’s launch and operation while promoting harmonization and secure interoperability between the information systems of participating administrations. A third partnership agreement formalizes the entry of Tanger Med Port Authority into PORTNET’s shareholding structure.
By launching the Moroccan foreign trade portal, the participating institutions reaffirm their commitment to creating a more efficient, transparent, and competitive trade environment. The platform is expected to play a key role in supporting businesses, improving public service delivery, and strengthening Morocco’s position in regional and international commerce.
