Marsa Maroc secures 20 year extension for Casablanca container terminal
Marsa Maroc has secured a 20 year extension of the concession for Container Terminal 3 at the Port of Casablanca, reinforcing its long-term position in Morocco’s maritime logistics sector. The terminal is operated by the group’s subsidiary TC3PC.
The extension is tied to a major investment program aimed at increasing the terminal’s capacity from 600,000 twenty foot equivalent units, commonly known as TEUs, to 900,000 TEUs by 2030. The project forms part of a broader strategy to expand container handling operations at the Port of Casablanca.
Under this development plan, Marsa Maroc will invest 3 billion Moroccan dirhams to modernize and expand its infrastructure. The program includes extending quay facilities, strengthening the terminal’s equipment fleet, and redesigning storage areas across its two container terminals in Casablanca.
The investment is expected to significantly increase the port’s operational capabilities. By 2030, Marsa Maroc aims to raise the total container handling capacity of the Port of Casablanca to more than 2 million TEUs.
According to the company, the concession renewal and associated investment program reflect a long-term strategy focused on improving operational performance and expanding capacity. The initiative is also intended to strengthen the role of the Port of Casablanca as a key gateway supporting Morocco’s logistics competitiveness and maritime trade growth.
