Coupe du Trône golf tournament opens at Cabo Negro
The 21st edition of the Coupe du Trône golf tournament has begun at the Royal Golf de Cabo Negro, where twelve clubs from across Morocco will compete until July 11 for the national title. The Coupe du Trône brings together the country’s leading teams in a setting between the Mediterranean coast and the Rif mountains. The event follows the 2025 edition held at the Royal Country Club de Tanger, which was won by Royal Golf Dar Es Salam.
Since its launch in 2004, the competition has become one of the most important team events on Morocco’s golf calendar. The format combines experienced players and emerging talents within club squads. Several participants come from the Road to The Tour program and compete in Division I university golf in the United States, while others have developed through Moroccan golf academies.
This year’s field includes some of the country’s most promising players. Adam Bresnu, ranked 28th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, represents the growing strength of Moroccan men’s golf. In the women’s game, Rim Imni recently gained attention after making the cut at the latest Coupe Lalla Meryem on the Ladies European Tour.
The twelve participating clubs have entered their strongest lineups in pursuit of the title of Morocco’s best golf club. Their presence reflects the increasing depth of talent within the national game and the continued importance of the Coupe du Trône in developing competitive golf across the Kingdom.
