Casablanca-Settat development projects set for July session

The Casablanca-Settat development projects agenda will dominate the region’s ordinary July 2026 session, as local authorities prepare to approve a series of major investments covering infrastructure, industry, logistics, water supply, healthcare, employment, and urban development.

Regional officials are expected to review several strategic agreements aimed at accelerating projects included in the 2022–2027 Regional Development Program. The session comes as Casablanca-Settat continues efforts to strengthen economic competitiveness and improve public services across the region.

A key item on the agenda is the approval of a preliminary agreement for a €100 million loan from the French Development Agency. The financing would support part of the projects planned under the regional development strategy and help accelerate implementation of priority investments.

The council will also examine a range of agreements related to the creation and expansion of industrial and economic zones. These initiatives are intended to attract investment, increase business activity, and support job creation across the region.

Transport and infrastructure projects will occupy a central place during the session. Regional authorities are expected to assess measures designed to improve connectivity and strengthen the infrastructure network needed to support economic growth.

Several proposals with significant social and territorial impact are also scheduled for discussion. Among them is the reconstruction and equipment of Errazi Hospital, which specializes in mental health and psychiatric care. The project aims to enhance healthcare services and improve treatment capacity for patients in the region.

Flood prevention initiatives will also be reviewed. These measures target vulnerable areas exposed to seasonal flooding and seek to strengthen protection for residents, infrastructure, and economic activities.

Water security remains another priority. The session will address projects intended to improve access to drinking water and reinforce supply systems in response to growing demand and climate-related challenges.

The regional council is also expected to discuss programs focused on social inclusion and economic empowerment. Planned initiatives include support for young people who are not in employment, education, or training, as well as assistance for very small businesses, cooperatives, and income-generating activities. These measures are designed to promote local development and create new economic opportunities.

The July session is expected to mark an important step in advancing several long-term projects that could shape the economic and social development of Casablanca-Settat over the coming years.
