Bank Al-Maghrib issues silver coin marking King Mohammed VI’s 27th Throne Anniversary
Bank Al-Maghrib has issued a commemorative silver coin to mark the 27th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne. The Bank Al-Maghrib commemorative coin carries a face value of 250 dirhams and celebrates one of Morocco’s most significant national occasions.
According to the central bank, the obverse of the coin features the portrait of King Mohammed VI, surrounded by the inscriptions “محمد السادس” and “المملكة المغربية – ⵜⴰⴳⵍⴷⵉⵜ ⵏ ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ” in Arabic and Tifinagh. It also bears the dual date “2026 – 1448,” reflecting both the Gregorian and Hijri calendars.
The reverse displays an artistic depiction of fireworks represented by stars alongside the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom. It also includes the face value written in Arabic numerals and words, “250 – مائتان و خمسون درهما,” the number “27” marking the anniversary, and the inscription “الذكرى السابعة و العشرون لتربع جلالة الملك على العرش” together with its French translation, “27ème ANNIVERSAIRE DE L’INTRONISATION DE S.M. LE ROI MOHAMMED VI.”
The Bank Al-Maghrib commemorative coin is struck from an alloy containing 925 parts per thousand silver and 75 parts per thousand copper. It weighs 28.28 grams, has a diameter of 38.61 millimetres, features a reeded edge, and is produced using the Proof striking standard, a finish commonly reserved for collector and commemorative coins.
