Apple Music expands to more than two million Volvo vehicles
Volvo Cars is rolling out Apple Music across more than two million vehicles worldwide through an over-the-air software update, further strengthening its connected in-car services. Eligible users will also receive up to three months of complimentary access to the music streaming platform.
The Apple Music integration will be gradually deployed across a wide range of Volvo models produced from the 2020 model year onward. Compatible vehicles include the EX90, ES90, XC90, S90, V90, XC60, S60, V60, XC40, EX40 and EC40. Availability may vary depending on market and vehicle specifications.
Drivers and passengers who sign in with their Apple account will be able to access songs, playlists and radio stations directly from the vehicle’s touchscreen interface or through voice commands. Apple Music offers a catalog of more than 100 million songs without advertising.
Future owners of the upcoming Volvo EX60 will have access to Apple Music from the first vehicle deliveries, extending the partnership to Volvo’s next generation of electric models.
For selected Volvo EX60, EX90 and ES90 vehicles equipped with the optional Bowers & Wilkins audio system, Apple Music will also support spatial audio powered by Dolby Atmos technology. The feature is designed to deliver a more immersive listening experience tailored to the vehicle cabin environment.
To support the launch, Volvo is offering up to three months of free Apple Music access for eligible customers. The promotion is available to both new and existing subscribers under specific conditions and will remain valid until July 6, 2027.
The move reflects the growing role of digital services in the automotive industry. Manufacturers are increasingly enhancing vehicles after purchase through software updates and partnerships with major technology platforms, expanding functionality beyond traditional vehicle hardware.
