{"id":936,"date":"2026-06-22T16:22:40","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T15:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zawaya24.com\/en\/?p=936"},"modified":"2026-06-22T16:22:40","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T15:22:40","slug":"afreximbank-signs-500-million-loan-with-central-bank-of-tunisia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zawaya24.com\/en\/afreximbank-signs-500-million-loan-with-central-bank-of-tunisia\/","title":{"rendered":"Afreximbank signs $500 million loan with Central Bank of Tunisia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"70\" data-end=\"276\">African Export-Import Bank has signed a $500 million term loan facility with the Central Bank of Tunisia on behalf of the Tunisian Ministry of Finance to support the country\u2019s key socio-economic priorities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"278\" data-end=\"568\">The agreement was concluded at <a href=\"http:\/\/Afreximbank.com\">Afreximbank<\/a> headquarters during a meeting attended by Dr George Elombi, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank, and Dr Fethi Zouhaier Nouri, Governor of the Central Bank of Tunisia, alongside senior delegations from both institutions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"570\" data-end=\"1014\">The new facility adds to $1.2 billion previously disbursed to the Central Bank of Tunisia. It is designed to help the government meet maturing trade debt obligations, finance imports of essential goods such as fuel, fertilizers and food items, and improve access to foreign currency liquidity. The transaction also strengthens Afreximbank\u2019s countercyclical role and its commitment to supporting economic and structural transformation in Africa.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1327\">Dr George Elombi said the facility reflects Afreximbank\u2019s commitment to Tunisia and to sustainable socio-economic development across the continent. He highlighted cooperation with Tunisian authorities at a time when international development finance institutions are reducing Africa\u2019s priority in their agendas.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" data-start=\"1329\" data-end=\"1645\">Dr Fethi Zouhaier Nouri said the partnership provides critical support at a time when access to trade finance and foreign currency liquidity remains essential to sustain imports.
