Spanish authorities recorded three food safety notifications in October concerning Moroccan fishery products, pointing to concerns over product safety and storage conditions.

The latest case involves a shipment of surimi imported from Morocco, destroyed last week after inspectors found that the required transport temperature had not been respected. Spain notified European authorities of the incident on Oct. 21, and the shipment was destroyed to rule out any health risk.

Earlier that month, on Oct. 13, a consignment of swordfish was destroyed after the Anisakis parasite was detected in it. The parasite can cause digestive problems and allergic reactions in consumers.

Two days later, on Oct. 15, Salmonella bacteria turned up in five samples of fish meal imported from Morocco. That product is used in animal feed manufacturing and is not meant for direct human consumption.

The surimi case marked the third such notification in October involving Moroccan fishery products.

Spanish authorities issued three food safety alerts in October on Moroccan fishery products, including surimi, swordfish and fish meal.

[5

post-9299","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economie
