Lebanese singer Fadl Shaker was set to perform in the Saudi capital on Thursday evening, his first concert before a Saudi audience in around 14 years.

The concert, held on the Abu Bakr Salem stage, was announced in early October by Turki Al Al-Sheikh, chairman of the board of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. In a post on X, he said audiences were eager to see the singer back on stage.

Ahead of the show, videos from the final rehearsals spread widely on social media. They showed Shaker on stage with his son Muhammad, who sang parts of his father’s songs alongside him.

The evening is part of the Riyadh Season programme and marks Shaker’s first appearance at the event. The set is expected to mix his best-known songs with his most recent work, reportedly including “Dehket El Donya”, “Fein Layalik”, “Ma’oul”, “Law Ala Albi” and the newer “Ahla Rasma”. Two duets are also said to feature in the programme: “Ahawel” with the singer Nawal and “Kifak ‘a Firaqi” with his son Muhammad.

Shaker’s long absence from the stage followed legal cases linked to the 2013 Abra clashes in the Lebanese city of Sidon. In 2018, the military court acquitted him of directly taking part in the fighting. He still faced other charges, however, and in 2020 he was sentenced in absentia to 22 years in prison.

After some 12 years in hiding, he turned himself in to the Lebanese authorities in October 2025. In May 2026, he was acquitted of the attempted murder of Hilal Hamoud. Two months later, in July, he was released on bail in several cases. Proceedings are continuing in others.

Shaker has also announced two upcoming concerts, one in Qatar and one in Jordan.
