Sara Lazzeroni, a developer at Rockstar Games, disabled replies on her X account two days after sharing her reaction to GTA VI: Extended Look. The presentation was released as a Netflix premiere on August 27.<\/p>\n
Lazzeroni said she had received a number of unpleasant and sexist comments that risked overshadowing the celebration for the women who worked on the game. Some fans directed their anger at women on the Rockstar team and accused female writers of making Jason, the game’s male protagonist, submissive to Lucia, the series’ first playable female protagonist.<\/p>\n
The reaction adds to tensions surrounding Lucia since her existence was revealed by Bloomberg in 2022. Early previews of the extended presentation showed a deeper relationship system between Jason and Lucia.<\/p>\n
Rockstar development director Rob Nelson told IGN that the romantic elements are entirely optional. He said the story only requires Jason and Lucia to remain together for most of the game and work together.<\/p>\n

Other TikTok users, including creators identified as Trinity and CaitlynandTahir, published similar videos. Some of the posts appeared to be satirical rather than genuine statements.<\/p>\n
Some of the viral reactions appear to stem from misunderstandings about the structure of GTA 6. Several creators have described the relationship between Jason and Lucia as the game’s main objective, while early previews indicate that the romantic dimension is optional and secondary to the criminal story.<\/p>\n
Some videos have also failed to mention that Lucia is a playable character herself rather than a non-player character.<\/p>\n
