The discussions focused on recent migration pressures around the Spanish enclave and efforts to address irregular crossings and migrant smuggling.<\/p>\n
\u0160uica described her meeting with Bourita as constructive, highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts between countries to tackle illegal migration, migrant smuggling, and trafficking networks.<\/p>\n
The European official expressed appreciation for Morocco\u2019s cooperation with Spanish authorities, commending Rabat\u2019s response and \u201cprompt readmissions, in line with applicable law.\u201d She said the EU recognizes Morocco as a close and long-standing partner in addressing migration challenges.<\/p>\n
\u0160uica also stressed that the European Union and Morocco would continue working together on migration management and strengthening their Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership.<\/p>\n
Her remarks came after a sharp increase in attempts by Moroccan migrants to reach Ceuta from Morocco in recent days. Following the incidents, Morocco and Spain agreed to reinforce coordination to restore border security and ensure safer management of the crossing points.<\/p>\n
The EU and Morocco continue to deepen cooperation on migration, border management, and security issues.
