The projection was shared by Ousmane Dione, the institution’s Vice President for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, during an interview with the Moroccan News Agency (MAP).

Dione said Morocco is emerging from its strongest growth cycle in more than a decade. While the conflict in the Middle East is expected to reduce economic growth by around 0.8 percentage points this year, he stressed that the country’s medium-term prospects remain resilient.

Investment is expected to continue driving the economy in the short term. Investment spending is forecast to rise by 11.2% in 2026, supported by major infrastructure projects and preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

Over the medium term, private consumption is expected to become a stronger contributor to economic expansion. Household spending is projected to grow by more than 4%, supported by lower inflation and improving consumer confidence. The World Bank also expects stronger agricultural output, resilient tourism activity, and sustained mining exports to reinforce economic performance.

Dione warned that Morocco must continue addressing structural challenges to sustain growth. These include water scarcity, climate-related risks, labor market constraints, rising energy import costs, and fiscal pressures linked to sale-and-leaseback operations as well as potential liabilities from state-owned enterprises and public-private partnerships.

He highlighted digital transformation as a major opportunity to increase productivity. According to the World Bank, the widespread adoption of digital technologies could raise overall productivity by between 10% and 15%.

The World Bank also noted progress in Morocco’s public financial management. Dione referred to the 2024 Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability assessment, which found improvements in budget reliability, stronger budget execution, and greater integration of gender and climate priorities into public planning.

His remarks follow the launch of the new Country Partnership Framework agreed between the World Bank and the Moroccan government for the 2026-2035 period.

The ten-year strategy focuses on three priorities: creating more private sector jobs, strengthening human capital, and promoting inclusive and resilient development in line with Morocco’s New Development Model.

According to Dione, the framework aims to support the creation of more than 1.7 million additional jobs by 2035 through reforms that promote competition, stimulate private investment, and improve labor market inclusion. It also backs reforms in education, healthcare, universal health coverage, social protection, and pension systems while expanding transport, digital connectivity, and energy infrastructure to reduce regional disparities and support long-term economic development.

Morocco’s Morocco economic growth outlook remains solid, with real GDP expected to expand by 4.3%…

[5
2044,3739,767,264,2777
post-3794","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economie","tag-economic-growth","tag-gdp","tag-investment","tag-morocco","tag-world-bank
["GET
