Morocco is reinforcing its strategy to diversify tourism beyond its traditional destinations through an expanded partnership between the National Tourism Office (ONMT) and French airline Transavia. The move will increase direct air connections to Ouarzazate and Dakhla, two destinations that have gained momentum among international travelers seeking new experiences across the kingdom.<\/p>\n
The latest expansion reflects Morocco\u2019s broader ambition to distribute tourism growth more evenly across its regions while responding to rising international demand. Transavia has introduced an additional weekly flight between Paris-Orly and Ouarzazate, increasing the route to three direct services per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The enhanced schedule will remain in operation throughout the summer season until October 31.<\/p>\n
Discussions are already underway between ONMT and Transavia to maintain the additional frequency during the winter season. If approved, the route enhancement could become a permanent feature of Ouarzazate\u2019s international air network, providing greater year-round accessibility for travelers.<\/p>\n
Dakhla is also benefiting from stronger connectivity. The southern coastal city will now be served by three direct weekly flights from Paris-Orly every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The decision comes as Morocco continues to register record-breaking tourism performance. The country welcomed 19.8 million visitors in 2025, marking a 14% increase compared with the previous year. Momentum has continued into 2026. During the first five months of the year, Morocco received 7.7 million tourists, representing a 7% increase compared with the same period in 2025. Industry observers attribute part of this growth to the expansion of international air routes and sustained destination marketing efforts.<\/p>\n
Ouarzazate, often described as the gateway to southern Morocco, has attracted increasing attention from travelers interested in cultural heritage, desert landscapes and authentic local experiences. Enhanced flight capacity is expected to support hotels, guesthouses, tour operators and transport providers while encouraging longer stays.<\/p>\n
Dakhla has also emerged as one of Morocco\u2019s fastest-growing tourism destinations. Known for its coastal scenery, water sports and eco-tourism potential, the city continues to attract visitors from Europe and beyond.
