Morocco has launched its second national disability awareness campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, and accessibility for people with disabilities. The campaign runs from July 15 to July 27, 2026, under the slogan \u201cLet us change our perspective toward an inclusive environment for people with disabilities, without barriers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The launch ceremony took place on July 15 at the Bouregreg Congress Palace in Sal\u00e9. It was chaired by Naima Ibn Yahya, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, and Abdeljabbar Er Rachidi, Secretary of State in charge of Social Integration.<\/p>\n
The campaign is organized by the Secretariat of State in charge of Social Integration with the support of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family and in coordination with the United Nations Population Fund.<\/p>\n
The initiative seeks to strengthen public awareness of the barriers faced by people with disabilities and encourage practical solutions that support autonomy, equal opportunities, fair access to services, and full participation in social life.<\/p>\n
According to the organizers, the campaign forms part of efforts to implement the High Royal Directives of King Mohammed VI aimed at advancing the rights of people with disabilities. It also supports the implementation of the second national action plan for the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities, which seeks to ensure effective and comprehensive social inclusion.<\/p>\n
The campaign is also linked to Morocco\u2019s international commitments following its ratification in 2009 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Particular emphasis is placed on awareness raising and on protecting people with disabilities from exploitation, violence, discrimination, and violations of dignity or privacy.<\/p>\n
Organizers said the campaign aims to promote the concept of comprehensive inclusion while addressing forms of exclusion that continue to limit participation. It also seeks to strengthen institutional responsibility by integrating equality principles into public and private policies as a key measure of service quality.<\/p>\n
The program places special focus on strengthening the capacities of students, professionals, and stakeholders through training and qualification initiatives. It also seeks to reinforce cooperation between public institutions, private sector actors, civil society organizations, and academic institutions to encourage coordinated action and the exchange of best practices.<\/p>\n
The launch ceremony brought together national and international figures, representatives of government departments, national institutions, international organizations, civil society networks active in the disability sector, and members of the national media.<\/p>\n
Several activities are scheduled at national and regional levels during the campaign. These will be supervised by Entraide Nationale, the Social Development Agency, the National Institute of Social Action, and a number of civil society organizations working in the field of disability.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family and the Secretariat of State in charge of Social Integration called on institutional stakeholders, territorial partners, civil society organizations, cultural and artistic actors, creators, and influencers to actively participate in the campaign and contribute to spreading values of solidarity, equity, and empowerment for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
