Morocco\u2019s Secretariat of State for Social Integration launched the second national disability awareness campaign in Sal\u00e9 on Wednesday, aiming to promote inclusion, remove barriers facing people with disabilities, and strengthen equal access to services and opportunities across society.<\/p>\n
Held from July 15 to 27 under the slogan \u201cLet us change our perspective toward an inclusive environment for people with disabilities, without barriers,\u201d the campaign is organized with the support of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family and in coordination with the United Nations Population Fund.<\/p>\n
The initiative seeks to increase public awareness of the challenges encountered by people with disabilities while encouraging practical solutions that support equitable access, full participation, autonomy, and equal opportunities. It also aims to promote the concept of comprehensive inclusion, reduce exclusion, and reinforce institutional responsibility by integrating equality principles into public and private policies.<\/p>\n
A key component of the campaign focuses on strengthening the capacities of students, professionals, and stakeholders through specialized training and qualification programs.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the launch event, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family Naima Ben Yahia said disability is a cross cutting issue that requires cooperation across government sectors, stressing that no single ministry can achieve the desired change alone.<\/p>\n
She said the ministry\u2019s programs are based on coordination with government departments, partnerships with civil society organizations, and support from media outlets and content creators to ensure campaign messages reach all segments of society.<\/p>\n
Ben Yahia highlighted efforts to improve access to transportation for people with disabilities through a partnership agreement involving the Secretariat of State for Social Integration and the National Railway Office. The initiative covers 30 percent of ticket costs and has benefited nearly 8,000 citizens to date.<\/p>\n
The minister also noted that partnership agreements worth a total of 76 million dirhams have been concluded with territorial authorities to improve accessibility. The projects aim to adapt public spaces and facilities, remove physical barriers, facilitate mobility, and improve access to services.<\/p>\n
According to Ben Yahia, these measures are intended to strengthen autonomy, guarantee equitable access, and contribute to building an inclusive environment accessible to all.<\/p>\n
Ben Yahia described the national campaign as an open call for all citizens to contribute to building an inclusive Morocco that guarantees equal opportunities and provides a place for everyone.<\/p>\n
She added that the initiative represents another step toward changing societal perceptions of disability and supporting policies that ensure people with disabilities can fully enjoy their rights without discrimination or exclusion.<\/p>\n
Secretary of State for Social Integration Abdeljebbar Rachidi said the campaign reflects an ongoing societal effort to move disability issues from occasional concern to a permanent priority within public policies. He emphasized a shift from a protection based approach toward one centered on rights, participation, and the removal of barriers.<\/p>\n
Rachidi said the campaign is guided by national and international disability frameworks, including the High Orientations of King Mohammed VI, which place particular emphasis on promoting the rights and dignity of people with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunities.<\/p>\n
He noted that the campaign primarily targets public officials and decision makers in order to encourage collective mobilization around disability rights as a cross sector and government wide priority.<\/p>\n
Mehdi Hilmi, Program Chief at the United Nations Population Fund in Morocco, said the Kingdom continues its efforts to build a society that places people at the center of development and considers inclusion an irreversible strategic choice.<\/p>\n
He said Morocco\u2019s commitment serves as a source of inspiration for partner institutions and reinforces confidence in the country\u2019s ability to build a more inclusive and equitable society.<\/p>\n
The launch event brought together representatives from government departments, national institutions, civil society organizations, and international bodies. Participants reviewed the results of the first national disability awareness campaign held in 2025 and were introduced to the objectives of the second edition along with accompanying awareness and advertising materials.<\/p>\n
