For breast cancer, the five year survival rate reaches 87 percent in high income nations but falls to 42 percent in the poorest countries. The WHO emphasized that a large share of cancer cases can be prevented. Patient experiences highlight wider impacts<\/strong><\/p>\n For the first time, the WHO incorporated the experiences of patients and their families into its assessment. The findings show that cancer imposes substantial financial and psychological burdens alongside its medical consequences.<\/p>\n According to the report, 45 percent of patients face financial difficulties related to treatment costs, while more than half report severe effects on their mental health. Family caregivers also frequently experience isolation and significant emotional strain.<\/p>\n The WHO called on governments to rethink national cancer strategies and treat the disease as a broader social and economic challenge.
