Jordan has expressed strong support for Morocco after security services dismantled an alleged ISIS-linked terrorist network accused of planning coordinated attacks in several cities across the country.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Jordan\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the alleged terrorist plots, describing them as an attempt to undermine Morocco\u2019s security, sovereignty, and stability. The ministry reaffirmed Jordan\u2019s support for Morocco\u2019s efforts to protect public safety and maintain national security.<\/p>\n
The reaction followed an announcement by Morocco\u2019s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations that authorities had thwarted advanced terrorist plans and arrested 10 suspected extremists believed to be linked to ISIS. The arrests took place during coordinated operations in Agadir, Taroudant, Casablanca, El Hajeb, Tetouan, Fquih Ben Salah, and Safi.<\/p>\n
According to Moroccan investigators, the suspects allegedly received operational instructions and logistical assistance from ISIS operatives based in the Sahel region. Security forces seized weapons, military-style clothing, extremist documents, electronic devices, and other materials allegedly connected to planned attacks.<\/p>\n
Authorities also reported the discovery of a modified vehicle and components that could be used in the manufacture of explosive devices. Investigators said the materials were intended for attacks against sensitive targets.<\/p>\n
Jordan\u2019s Foreign Ministry reiterated its commitment to supporting Morocco\u2019s security efforts. Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah said Jordan stands in full solidarity with Morocco and supports all measures aimed at preserving the country\u2019s sovereignty, stability, and the safety of its citizens.<\/p>\n
Qudah also reaffirmed Jordan\u2019s rejection of terrorism and violence in all forms, stressing the importance of protecting security and stability.<\/p>\n
Moroccan authorities placed the adult suspects in police custody, while a minor suspect was placed under judicial supervision.
