Morocco\u2019s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development has joined the National Portal for the Right of Access to Information (PNDAI), a move designed to strengthen Morocco energy transparency<\/strong>, expand public access to government data, and support the country\u2019s digital governance agenda.<\/p>\n

The partnership agreement was signed in Rabat by Energy Transition Minister Leila Benali and Omar Seghrouchni, president of the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection and chair of the Committee on the Right to Information.<\/p>\n

The agreement seeks to improve the implementation of the constitutional right of access to information by simplifying administrative procedures and providing citizens with easier access to public data through a unified digital platform.<\/p>\n

During the signing ceremony, Benali said the ministry\u2019s integration into the portal reinforces the public\u2019s right to obtain environmental information related to the energy sector. She noted that citizens will have greater access to data covering climate conditions, mining activities, air quality, water quality, and bathing water monitoring.<\/p>\n

The minister added that the initiative aligns with broader efforts to advance Morocco energy transparency<\/strong> and modernize public administration through digital tools and technology-driven services. She also highlighted the ministry\u2019s existing practice of publishing annual reports on bathing water quality as part of its commitment to openness.<\/p>\n

Seghrouchni said the agreement would facilitate access to public information while improving coordination among government institutions responsible for sharing data with citizens. He stressed that the initiative supports the implementation of Article 27 of Morocco\u2019s Constitution, which guarantees the right of access to information, as well as Law 31.13 governing access to public information.<\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by the National Portal for the Right of Access to Information, the ministry\u2019s accession demonstrates its commitment to institutional openness and effective communication with the public.<\/p>\n

The statement said the ministry plans to use the platform to strengthen engagement with citizens and stakeholders by providing faster and more efficient access to information concerning strategic plans and development programs.<\/p>\n

Managed by the Committee on the Right to Information, the PNDAI allows Moroccan citizens and foreign residents legally living in the country to submit, monitor, and track requests for public information and related complaints under Law 31.13.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
