Panama has received the first shipment of fertilizers donated by Morocco under a bilateral cooperation program aimed at supporting agricultural production and strengthening food security.<\/p>\n
The delivery ceremony took place on Monday and was attended by Panama\u2019s Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Guevara Mann, Minister of Agricultural Development Roberto Linares, and Morocco\u2019s Ambassador to Panama Bouchra Boudchiche.<\/p>\n
Under the agreement, Morocco will provide 1,000 tons of fertilizer annually over a three year period. According to Linares, the program is expected to benefit around 4,000 agricultural producers as well as 300 school gardens across Panama.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the event, Guevara Mann said international cooperation remains an effective tool for addressing shared challenges at a time when food security and sustainable development have become major global priorities.<\/p>\n
The initiative comes as Morocco continues to consolidate its position in the global fertilizer market amid growing concerns over food insecurity and disruptions affecting international supply chains. The country has sought to reinforce its reputation as a dependable supplier of agricultural inputs during a period marked by geopolitical tensions and trade uncertainty.<\/p>\n
Recent developments have further strengthened Morocco\u2019s role in global fertilizer trade. Earlier this week, the United States temporarily suspended import duties on Moroccan phosphate fertilizers following a national emergency declaration related to fertilizer supplies.<\/p>\n
The decision is expected to support Morocco\u2019s expanding presence in the American agricultural market while reinforcing its standing as a strategic supplier of fertilizers.<\/p>\n
Morocco has also continued to promote food security initiatives across Africa through the activities of OCP Group. The company has worked with governments and agricultural stakeholders to provide farmers with fertilizer products and technical support designed to improve productivity and farming practices.<\/p>\n
In April, Ghana received a donation of 2,000 metric tons of fertilizer from Morocco as part of similar cooperation efforts.
