Morocco has strengthened its water infrastructure industry through a major investment in Amiblu Maroc, with the launch of a new production line worth MAD 160 million, approximately $17 million. The project is expected to increase industrial output, support strategic water projects, and create more than 300 jobs.<\/p>\n
The inauguration took place at the company’s facility in Nouaceur and was attended by Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour, Austrian Ambassador to Morocco Anna Jankovic, industry representatives, and local officials.<\/p>\n
The new Amiblu Maroc production line raises the plant’s annual manufacturing capacity to 660 kilometers of piping with an average diameter of DN800. It also increases the maximum pipe diameter that can be produced to DN3200 and expands fittings production capacity by 25%.<\/p>\n
The investment includes new industrial workshops, upgraded production facilities, and a testing platform designed according to international standards. The project also features the future GRP Academy, scheduled to open in 2027, which will focus on training and developing skilled workers for the sector.<\/p>\n
Amiblu Maroc, formerly known as Amitech, manufactures glass fiber reinforced polyester piping systems used in drinking water transport, seawater desalination, and irrigation infrastructure. The company provides engineering services covering design, consulting, manufacturing, installation, and project commissioning.<\/p>\n
Moroccan authorities highlighted that all engineering, production, and quality control operations at the facility are managed by Moroccan professionals. Officials said the project demonstrates the country’s growing technical expertise and industrial capabilities in a sector considered essential for long term water security.<\/p>\n
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the expansion strengthens domestic know how while supporting national efforts to develop advanced industrial activities linked to water management and infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the ceremony, Mezzour said the investment reflects Morocco’s industrial transformation strategy and its ambition to expand high value added manufacturing sectors capable of supporting major national projects.<\/p>\n
The minister also linked the project to Morocco’s broader plan to develop a specialized industrial ecosystem for seawater desalination. He described the sector as an important contributor to industrial sovereignty, local production integration, and national water resilience.<\/p>\n
